Employee Training Topics for Remote or At-Home Workers

As the COVID-19 novel coronavirus outbreak spreads across the United States, the way in which many Americans go to work has changed dramatically. Whether you have an order in your state to “stay home” or you have chosen to have employees work remotely or stagger working hours to comply with social distancing recommendations, you can help your employees stay healthy and productive with online and streaming video training courses.

Here is a list of suggested training topics for employees that are working from home, have additional downtime, or are working non-traditional hours.

Online OSHA 10- & 30-Hour Training

Make use of extra downtime by ensuring your workers have their 10- or 30-hour General Industry or Construction training. All training is done individually and can be spaced out over multiple days. Employees receive an official OSHA/DOL card upon successful completion.

Health & Wellness

In addition to COVID-19, it’s still cold and flu season in many parts of the country. Programs such as Coronavirus Prevention training, Influenza Prevention and Personal Hygiene teach awareness and prevention, which are key to helping your employees stay healthy. Additionally, First Aid and Off-the-Job Safety training are helpful for employees who are sheltering at home during this time.

Office Ergonomics

Many employees may lack a conventional work space in their homes, resorting to doing computer work at the dining room table or on the couch. An overview of proper Office Ergonomics techniques can help your employees adjust their at-home workspace to prevent carpal tunnel, tendonitis, and lower back injuries.

Soft Skills

Soft skill training programs such as Time Management, Electronic Communication Etiquette and Active Listening Skills training may help employees adjust to the new normal in how we work and communicate.

Annual Training

Hopefully, we will be back to a more normal work environment in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if employees have extra downtime, this may be a good time to encourage employees to access their regular, annual compliance training programs. Online and streaming video training can be used to cover a number of topics from ladder safety and heat stress to slips, trips and falls.

Evolved Safety can help you source the training you need in online and streaming video formats. Your employees can access the training from any computer with an internet connection. Give us a call at 616.916.1178 or reach out to us here and we’ll be in touch.
